Questions & Answers

What's your fee structure like? Is it a flat rate, hourly, etc?

Our fee is generally done as a flat rate for residential work. It may be proportioned with the different phases of work that may be involved.

How does your process work overall?

It starts with the initial design phase wherein a project, with client input, develops from concept to design drawings - ultimately producing floor plans and elevations. We work hard to assure that a design is within a budget - these drawings may be used for general, confirming, ballpark-pricing.

Should your project require a Zoning Variance application the appropriate drawings and documentation would be provided.

With approval of the initial design (and Zoning Board if required), full construction drawings are prepared as the final phase.  These drawings act as directions for a builder (or homeowner) on how to put it all together.  They are developed to include all necessary information for building permit, construction bid and construction contract.

We are available to assist in bidding and construction administration if requested.

If we work together, how long does it take to get plans together?

Every project is different as there are many factors that play into the finish product, but the average is usually about a 6 to 8 week turnaround time.

Do you ever create multiple scenarios if we're not firmly decided between a couple possibilities?

In the end there is only the solution.  Our work brings all the factors into play to find the one collaborative answer.  We discourage multiple schemes, but provide them when it is warranted.

Do you have contractors that you'd recommend who you work well together with?

Yes.  We try to match the experience of a contractor with the type of job.
